Saint Joseph was chosen and blessed by God to be the Foster Father of His Son Jesus. Saint Joseph was deeply impressed with the majesty of Jesus, the Son of God, but also profoundly humbled when he beheld the God made man, as a little child, render to him all the love and humility and devotion which only a child can give. St. Joseph loved and adored Jesus and knew that God placed Him in his hands to teach and to form Him.
When the Angel Gabriel announced to Saint Joseph in a dream: “Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit” he became the loving protector and guardian of her admirable purity. The Blessed Virgin Mary loved and honored Saint Joseph and was filled with great joy when she witnessed the Son of God honor Saint Joseph as a father, listening to him, obeying him and serving him.
The love and obedience of Saint Joseph to God the Father, and his loving devotion and untiring example to Jesus and Mary, inspire us to imitate him that we may please God by our obedience and the perfect love of our families. We know the importance in remaining steadfast in our response to God’s love especially now that the sacred nature of marriage and the sanctity of the family is challenged by an increasing relativistic mentality in our society. In light of this, it is all the more urgent that we pray for our families, for happy marriages, for the safety of all children, especially the unborn, for the elderly and for the respect of the sanctity of life.
That our prayers may be most efficacious, we call upon Saint Joseph, the Patron of Families, to intercede for us and protect us. For this we, the Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception, are offering a Novena to Saint Joseph of Nine Holy Masses that will begin on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 and conclude on Thursday, March 19, 2020, the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. What a wonderful way to pray for God’s blessing upon our families and children, that of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
To have your intentions for your family, for all happy marriages, for the families that need your prayers and for those who are struggling in their marriage, for unborn children, to end abortion, to protect the elderly from euthanasia, for the sanctity of life, and for your special intentions enrolled in the list of those we pray for, please fill out the on-line Novena to Saint Joseph reply form.
